A line of eager fans snaked throughout Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood Thursday afternoon. The mostly 20-something crowd, easily distinguished by their dyed hair, torn black jeans, band tees, and no less than four facial piercings, stood waiting in the pleasantly mild November weather. With an early doors opening time of 4:30, fans were ready to fill the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom for night one of Pierce The Veil’s two sold out shows.

The post-hardcore trio, consisting of Vic Fuentes (lead vocals/guitar), Tony Perry (lead guitar), and Jaime Preciado (bass), are touring in support of their latest album, The Jaws of Life, which was released in February of this year. It marked the first LP in seven years from the San Diego outfit, which toured earlier this year alongside The Used.

With the making of a touring festival line-up, “The Jaws of Life Tour” includes four bands on the bill., with support from Dayseeker, Destroy Boys, and the new supergroup L.S. Dunes - featuring members of My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, Circa Survive, and Thursday.

Following a cover of Vicente Fernández’s “El Rey”, Pierce The Veil launched into “Death of an Executioner”, the lead track from The Jaws of Life. The 16-song set included six titles from the band’s latest LP, including singles “Pass The Nirvana” and "Emergency Contact".

Accompanied by fog canons, confetti, and no shortage of onstage energy, the San Diego punks also treated fans to several favorites from their breakthrough third studio album, Collide with the Sky. Tracks included, “A Match Into Water”, “Hell Above”, and “Hold On Till May”.

The band closed the night with an encore performance of their Platinum single, “King For A Day”.
