Ratboys Headline Thalia Hall Ahead Of European Tour Supporting Julien Baker

Chicago natives Ratboys played their first show of 2022 at Thalia Hall last night. The indie rock group led by Julien Steiner (guitar, vocals) and Dave Sagan (guitar) is gearing up for a 35 show tour across Europe starting on April 13th. They’ll be opening for Julien Baker on most stops with a handful of headlining shows along the way.

Ratboys are supporting their 4th studio album on Topshelf Records, Happy Birthday, Ratboy. The group spent time during lockdown working on the surprise album, which consists of recordings of resurfaced songs from an earlier EP, rarities and a new bonus track. Many fans will also hear songs from 2020’s Printer’s Devil for the first time live. The critically acclaimed album dropped just weeks before the pandemic. The group was forced to cancel what would have been their first headlining tour.

Ratboys are now ready to pick up where they left off. During their electric set at Thalia Hall Thursday night, Steiner shared that the band had just returned from Seattle where they finished tracking their next album. That means fans could be lucky enough to get a third Ratboys studio album in just three years. One can then expect the group to have more than enough firing power to dust off the plans for their first headlining tour in the very near future.
