Yeah Yeah Yeahs Help Chicago’s Metro Celebrate 40 Years With Surprise Show
Coming off their first post-pandemic set at Chicago’s Riot Fest Sunday, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs headed to the city’s North Side for an intimate surprise show at Metro on Monday night. The set was also part of a limit series of shows honoring the venue’s 40th anniversary celebration.
Last night’s show comes ahead of the release of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs first album in 9 years, Cool It Down, which is scheduled for release on September 30th. After playing two new releases off the new album early on in their set last night, “Burning” and “Spitting Off The Edge Of The World,” the indie rock band debuted another new track, “Lovebomb.”
The 16 song set also included fan favorites from their 2003 debut album Fever To Tell, including “Pin”, “Maps” and an encore presentation of “Date With The Night”. They also played hits like '“Golden Lion” from their sophomore album Show Your Bones, as well as their critically acclaimed single “Heads Will Roll” from It’s Blitz!.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have two more scheduled U.S. dates in October (more info here), but fans can expect more to come following the release of Cool It Down at the end of the month.
