Chicago Rolls Out The Red Carpet for Saint Motel’s Awards Show Tour

L.A. based Saint Motel brought a piece of the red carpet with them to kick off their Awards Show Tour in Chicago. The “dream pop” band relied on their academy of fans to vote for their favorite songs throughout the night. Each stop on the short, 7-stop tour followed the choose-your-own-adventure format.

Poking fun at the pompous ceremonial traditions of Hollywood award shows, lead singer and guitarist A/J Jackson unveiled each fan-voted favorite via a red and gold envelope. Dressed in a velvet red tuxedo and backed by his gold-coated bandmates, Jackson was presented each sealed envelope by a lucky fan before revealing each winner.

The band launched into “Van Horn” off of their latest LP, the aptly named The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, to kick off the night. They also played three more tracks from the 2021 release, including “Sisters,” “A Good Song Never Dies,” and “It’s All Happening.”

Midway through the 15-song set, Saint Motel introduced their latest single, “Everyone's A Guru Now”, which was the first time the band had played the song live.

The set list was also packed with plenty of fan favorites including, “Sweet Talk” and “For Elise” from their sophomore LP, saintmotelevision. The latter single was the recipient of the third “award” voted by fans.

“Cold Cold Man” from the band’s 2014 EP closed out the core set before ending the night with an encore performance of their biggest hit, “My Type”.

Saint Motel wrapped their Awards Show Tour last week in New York and our gearing up for a series of summer festivals dates. For more information and tickets, click here.
