The California Honeydrops have spent the past decade reintroducing listeners to the classic sounds of R&B and soul, packaged in a way that unleashes an instant party atmosphere. Thursday’s two-part set at a sold out Thalia Hall in Chicago, which included no setlist and the band taking many cues from the crowd, was exactly that - a party.

The Oakland-based outfit are currently halfway through a North American tour supporting their 2022 LP, Soft Spot, which was released on October 7th.

“This record is all about love and good lovin’ and other things that matter,” says The California Honeydrops’ frontman, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Lech Wierzynski. “We continued the Honeydrops’ album tradition of bringing special musical guests to bless the studio with their magic,” adds drummer Ben Malament. “Sousaphones, strings, space echoes…it’s all here.”
