Alexander Giannascoli, aka Alex G, continued his sold out North American tour with two nights at Chicago’s Thalia Hall this week. The indie rocker is supporting the release of his acclaimed ninth album, God Save The Animals, which was released this past September.

God Save The Animals stands out among the 29-year-old’s already extensive catalogue: It’s his first album recorded in a real recording studio. His eight previous LPs were recorded by himself in his home. Despite a more polished production, God Save The Animals still stays true to the singer’s signature moody style.

Giannascoli’s impressive 20+ song set lists each night included all 13 tracks from the new LP, including singles “Blessing,” “Runner” and “Cross the Sea.” He also played at least one track from nearly all of his previous albums.
